Pastors/Elders

Scott Byers

Lead Pastor

Scott has the joy of serving as a staff pastor/elder at Gospel Life Church. Late in high school, God claimed Scott as his own and gave him a love for Christ, his gospel, his church, and his mission. He received his B.A. from Moody Bible Institute in 2014 and his M.Div from Bethlehem College & Seminary in 2024. Before joining GLC, Scott served as an associate pastor in central Iowa from 2014–20 and then on staff in Family Ministries at The North Church (Mounds View, MN) from 2020–24. He loves reading, writing, coffee, pick up basketball, wrestling with his boys, cheering on the Hawkeyes (most days), marveling at God’s sovereign grace, and seeing God’s people transformed by the gospel. Scott and his wife, Nora, have been married since 2012 and have four children.

Matthew Holmes

Associate Pastor

Matthew joined Gospel Life Church during its first month of weekly gatherings in November 2017. Serving as a staff pastor/elder, Matthew delights in planning and leading worship gatherings, teaching, discipleship conversations, and engaging art and culture with the gospel. He was educated at the University of Minnesota and Bethlehem College & Seminary. In his free time, he likes to read, attend soccer matches, chop wood, and watch movies. Matthew and his wife, Lydia, along with their three daughters, together enjoy long walks around their neighborhood in South Minneapolis.

Pete Johnson

Pastor/Elder

Peter was part of the Gospel Life Church launch team in 2017. He has loved watching GLC grow into what it is today by the Lord’s leading. By day, he runs a small electrical contracting business. Peter and Jessica were married in 2001 and have three teenage children.

Paul McCullough

Pastor/Elder

Paul and his wife, Wendy, have been members of Gospel Life Church since 2023. Paul has served in several ministry capacities (finance, marriage, students) since God made him alive in Christ Jesus in 1986. Paul & Wendy have had the great joy of parenting three children and now relish their role as grandparents. The church called Paul to serve as an elder in 2024. He is passionate about building a Christ-centered community and making disciples. Time outdoors is a draw for Paul, whether fishing, hunting, or walking in the woods with Wendy.

Justin Wevers

Pastor/Elder

Justin has served as an elder at GLC since 2019. Previously, Justin was a student ministries pastor in the Twin Cities after graduating from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He and his wife, Amanda, along with their four children, enjoy sports and animals and books and traveling. Justin works in the software industry.
